Hariri, Hammoud discuss with Qaddoumi developments; Lebanon committed to support the Palestinians
Lebanon-Palestine, Politics, 1/4/2003
The Lebanese prime minister Rafic Hariri discussed with the chairman of the PLO political department the development of conditions on the Palestinian arena as well as the American military build up in the Gulf region.
Al-Qaddoumi also met with the Lebanese foreign minister Mahmoud Hammoud and reviewed with him developments in the region.
Following the two meetings, Qaddoumi said he had discussed the issue of the "escalated Israeli terrorism and the need of maintaining inter- Arab solidarity in this phase in particular in order to deal with the Palestinian question and the Iraqi issue."
Hammoud, on the other hand stressed Lebanon's commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in their struggle in order to restore back their legitimate rights and found their own independent state on their native soil.
Hammoud added "stress was laid on unifying Arab stances towards what is taking place in the Palestinian territories and the military build up in the region." He stressed that Israel continues to defy the international law and the UN resolutions in an attempt to deny the rights of the Palestinian people.
