Arabs have the right to demand Israel join the NPT, expert
Israel-Regional, Politics, 1/3/2003
The director general of the Arab atomic energy, Mahmoud Hussein Nasr Eddine, has stressed that the Arab states have the right to demand the UN and the international community that Israel should sign the NPT and not to continue being against the international will and to put its nuclear reactors under international inspection.
In a lecture he delivered at Zayed's center for coordination and follow up on Wednesday evening in Abu Dhabi, Nasr Eddine said that the Arab states have always shown a clear position and in all international arenas concerning their signatures of the NPT agreement concerning these weapons. He indicated the Arab states's cling to this agreement at a time when Israel refused the arrival of UN inspectors to its nuclear institutions and stock piling of its nuclear wastes.
He spoke of the US use of the veto at the UN security council when resolutions relate to Israel and its nuclear establishments and activities, stressing the right of the Arab states to demanding the making of the Middle East region free from all mass destruction weapons.
Nasr Eddine rejected what has been boosted by the "Zionist circles" to that certain Arab states are stockpiling nuclear weapons, noting these are groundless accusations invented by "Zionism" in order to campaign accusations against certain Arab states.
