Israeli settlement with the Palestinians over releasing held money
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 1/2/2003
Well-informed Israeli sources said that the Israeli government has reached a final settlement with the Palestinians concerning money held by Israel for the Palestinian authority.
The Israeli radio yesterday quoted these sources as saying that Israel, according to this settlement, will transfer a sum of 130 million Shekels to the Palestinian Authority every month, under international supervision.
This settlement was due to have debated at the session of the Israeli Cabinet under the chairmanship of the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon in the presence of the Israeli defense minister Shaoul Mofaz, the finance minister Maer Shtreit and the foreign minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for approval.
The radio indicated that the representatives of the security departments in Israel will have reservations against this step under the pretext that these Palestinian sums are used to finance activities against them.
