Mubarak calls for settling the Iraqi issue according to UN resolutions
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 1/2/2003

President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt has renewed his country's total rejection to any military act against Iraq or undermining its unity and territorial integrity. He warned that any attack against Iraq will inflect losses on the region as a whole.

In statements to the Egyptian daily al-Ahram issued yesterday on the occasion of the new year, Mubarak called on Iraq for continued implementation of the UN security council resolution 1441 and co-operation with the UN inspection teams so as to foil all pretexts given to direct a military blow against it.

President Mubarak explained that the Arab states have built their stand in support of a peaceful settlement for the Iraqi issue on the ground of the continued Iraqi cooperation with the UN resolutions and commitment to all conducive effort to close the file of the crisis, ultimately.

The Egyptian president condemned the Israeli aggressive policy against the Palestinian people and its continued oppressive and inhuman practices of acts of killing, destruction and besieging. He added that all these practices will not provide security and stability for the Israeli people and that the only way to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region is the implementation of international law which provides for Israel's complete withdrawal from all occupied Arab lands until June 4, 1967 border lines.

Mubarak added that the region is in need to eliminate the current situation because it implies great dangers on the region's security and stability.
