Egyptian parliament rejects attacking Iraq
Egypt-Iraq, Politics, 1/2/2003

The Arab affairs committee at the Egyptian parliament has stressed categorical rejection for any aggression against Iraq, warning that any military attack against Iraq will not only affect the Iraqi people, rather, its negative consequences will target the Middle east region as a whole.

In a statement issued yesterday in Cairo, the committee called on the USA to abide by the international committee and the UN Security Council resolutions and not to take unilateral measures towards Iraq. The committee also called on the UN inspectors teams to commit to neutrality, and transparency in its work in Iraq and not to be subject to any pressure.

The committee also called on Iraq to continue cooperation with the inspection teams and to abide by UN security council resolution no. 1441 so as not to give a pretext for a military against it.
