Three Palestinians killed by Israeli forces, one under bombardemnt
Palestine-Israel, Military, 1/1/2003

Two Palestinian were shot yesterday by the Israeli forces which continued yesterday breaking in operations and detention acts against the Palestinians in various areas of the West Bank and Gaza.

The Israeli forces committed a new crime when it kidnapped the university student Omran Abu Hamedah in al-Khalil and was taken to the "industrial area" where he was beaten to death. Another young Palestinian, Hamzeh Suleiman al-Rahabi, was exposed to a similar kidnapping and beating but did not end by his death.

One witness, Rashed al-Rahabi, said "we were four persons including Omran standing in front of his house near the mosque after evening prayers when an Israel patrol ( called borders car) including four members who took Omran and when we asked about the reason for kidnapping they said he will be questioned and returned back." Al-Rahabi added "we followed the soldiers walking to the "industrial area" where the Israelis used to take Palestinians and found Omran dead with bleeding from his head, nose and back.

Local hospital sources where Abu Hamedah ( 18 year old) was taken said he died because of beating to the head.

Meantime, the Israeli forces arrested Palestinians in Qalqilya in the West Bank. Israeli military sources told the Israeli radio that a military force arrested the four Palestinians after inspecting their houses.

The Israeli forces also arrested the Palestinian woman Itaf al-Khayyam and her two brothers Yahya and Raed after inspecting their house in Beit Jala near Bethlehem on charges of resisting occupation. The Israeli forces arrested five Palestinian students in Doura near al-Khalil for the same reason.

A Palestinian citizen was killed during clashes that took place with the Israeli forces near Nevet Dekalim settlement in Gaza, while another Palestinian, Hassan Abu Saeed, was killed on Monday in Khan Younis.

Nabil Abu Rudinah, the advisor of the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat, said that Israel continues to kill the Palestinians and destroy several Palestinian establishments and houses to displace the Palestinian people to outside the Palestinian territories.

He added that this Israeli policy also aims at going over the Palestinian authority and any international efforts to resume the political negotiations with the Israeli government and also to place obstacles before the implementation of the proposed American plan known as "roadmap."

Meantime, the Israeli authorities questioned the two Palestinians Sheikh Raed Salah and Kamal al-Khatib from the territories of 1948 for their call to resist the Israeli occupation.

In retaliation, the Palestinians threw mortars and bombs at Israeli tanks and armored vehicles in Gaza. They also opened fire at the Israeli occupation positions in Nablus in the West Bank.

One Israeli soldier and two settlers were wounded as the Palestinian Intifada youths fired an anti armored vehicle shell at an Israeli military position to the south of Gaza.

The Israeli radio said that the Palestinians also opened fire at an Israeli bus while running on the road between Jerusalem and Hebron and this resulted in heavy material losses in the bus.

The Israeli forces also arrested three Palestinians in Ramullah, members in the People's Front for Liberation of Palestine on charges of resisting occupation.

Three Israelis were also wounded in a fire erupted yesterday at dawn in one of the flats in Haifa. The Israeli radio said the ambulances hurried to the site of the incident to extinct the fire.
