El Pais: Spanish phone operator runs tele-marketing center in morocco

The call center of the Spanish phone operator, Telefonica, in Tangiers, will specialize in tele-marketing, reports spanish daily "El Pais."
The center employs 650 young Moroccans who answer 40% of calls in Spanish in the five business days and 100% of calls during weekends.
Services extended to customers by Tangiers-based Telefonica call center are constantly improving and have reached the same level of its peers in Spain, says the daily. As it meets 85% of queries, the company has decided to shift to Tangiers the selling of tickets for theaters, planes and travel packages.
The company will hire 230 operators and the existing staff will receive courses on their new job.
Telefonica operates another call center in Casablanca employing 1,500 persons.
According to "El Pais," a call center operator is paid 320 to 382 Euro, one third of the salary of their colleagues in Spain.
The Casablanca and Tangiers call-centers were opened in 2001 to handle 10% of queries by Telefonica customers.
