Jordanian parliamentary elections by the beginning of January

High ranking Jordanian political sources stressed that the Jordanian king Abdullah II will order the government in the first half of January to make the general parliamentary elections next spring. The elections which have been postponed more than one time and provoked internal and external problems.

In statements issued by the Jordanian daily Arab al-Youm ( the Arabs today). The sources expected the Jordanian government, and according to the constitution to define the proposed date for the voting day, next year before the end of January.

Meantime, the Jordanian government has been embarking on studying the making of a fundamental change on the elections law that is in line with the executive plan of the document of "Jordan first" which was submitted by the government to the Jordanian King Abdullah last Sunday.

The government's amendment decision will include the provisional elections law which is expected to be completed within a short period of time and introducing 12 women to the next parliament, representing all Jordanian provinces, and thereby number of the parliament will increase to 116.

In 2001, the Jordanian government issued a provisional law for the elections after postponing the election, according to which election circles were divided to 45 and the number of the parliament members increased from 80 to 104 .
