Russian Party officials outlines conditions in the region
Syria-Russia, Politics, 12/27/2002

First Deputy President of the Russian Communist Party's Central Committee, Valentine Koptsov described his visit to Syria as successful, fruitful, constructive and it contributes to boosting standing relations between the two countries.

Following his return from Syria and in a statement to SANA's reporter in Moscow, Koptsov praised President al-Assad' s political role and the success that Syria enjoys under his leadership.

Regarding the situation in the region, Koptsov underlined "the danger caused by the American plans and the Israeli aggressive policy that rejects the realization of just and comprehensive peace according to the international law."

Koptsov condemned the military threat and the American psychological warfare against Iraq, and called for solving the Iraqi cause in peaceful ways.

He concluded his statement by underlining the coordination between the Communist Party in Russia and the Baath Arab Socialist Party in Syria.
