A digital cargo village to be setup in Cairo airport

A digital cargo village financed by the World Bank and the International Customs Organization is to be set up on an area of 64000 sq m in Cairo Airport, a Cairo Airport official source announced.

"An international consulting firm has already started to amend the work plan for the new digital cargo village, the source added.

The new digital villiage to be operated electronically so that cargo can be cleared electronically, upon presentation of bill of lading.

An international consuling firm (Parsons) had earlier conducted a study for the proposed village several months ago, which was later amended following the creation of the Ministry of Aviation.

In the context of customs reform plan, the project is to be financed by several international bodies.
