Al-Sharq al-Awsat: Lebanon denies intention to build a project on al-Hasbani river

The Lebanese minister of energy and waters Muhammad Abdul Hamid Beiydoun denied Israeli information which said that Lebanon is planning to build a project at al-Hasbani river water.
The Lebanese minister told the London- Based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily in its yesterday's issue that Lebanon has no projects to transfer the water of al-Hasbani. He ridiculed the Israeli information concerning a dam to collect water coming from the slopes of Anti Lebanon ( al-Sheikh ) mountains.
The Lebanese minister explained that the referred to dam is just a pool of water and is considered a small dam carried out by a local community organization at the finance of the American development agency. The Lebanese minister indicated that the capacity of the said dam does not exceed 200,000 cubic meters and its aim is to irrigate lands of farmers in the Shebaa town.
