On the Arab investment map

The secretary general of the Arab Economic unity council Ahmad Jweili has announced that the council has completed the Arab investment plan which includes 4000 investment opportunities in various commodity and service sectors in the Arab states.

He explained that this falls in the course of the council's attempt to improve work environment in the Arab region through providing information on investment opportunities in the region in order to attract foreign investments and increasing the volume of inter- Arab trade..

In a speech he delivered at the inauguration of the E- Commerce conference to promote the Egyptian exports yesterday in Cairo, Jweili warned against the dangers of the Arab exports embarking on oil and service and tourism commodities, as basics, noting that these exports might be vulnerable to political or economic shocks.

He indicated that the Arab economic unity council will, in 2003, found an Arab company for trade and marketing between several Arab states, the banks and the private sectors, noting that the company will concentrate in its first phase on agricultural products.

Jweili added that the council achieved also a great stride towards the establishment of an Arab company for E- Commerce for cooperation with the Arab federation for information technology and in order to establish the Arab academy for electronic works in order to concentrate on various needed specialization in this domain such as administration, and commodity promotion.
