Al-Jalabi: the military operation against Iraq will start very soon
Iraq-Turkey, Politics, 12/23/2002

The leader of the opposition Iraqi national Congress, Ahmad al-Jalabi, has expressed his conviction that the American military operation against Iraq will start shortly but is not known when it will end. He called on the Iraqi President to abide by International law.

In a statement to the press following the conclusion of talks he had held in Ankara on Saturday evening, al-Halabi added that the presence of the Turkish army in northern Iraq in case of the eruption of the war will help to solve all standing problems in the region and that this presence will not last for long.

Concerning the Iraqi Turkmans, al-Jalabi said: the Turkmans are the third largest community in Iraq and we welcome to have them own their cultural and political rights.
