Maher in a telephone call with Hammoud on regional issues

Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher discussed in a telephone call with Hammoud the prevailing grave conditions in the region. Maher said during the telephone conversation he had discussed the Arab situation, discussion of the next Arab meetings and the importance of inter- Arab coordination concerning issues in the region.

He indicated that his talks with Hammoud fall in the course of continued contacts between Egypt and the Arab states to "withstand the grave conditions the Arab nation is facing concerning next Arab meetings for the follow up and move committee; Sudan's committee and the efforts to halt the Israeli aggressions in the occupied Palestinian territories."

Meanwhile the Egyptian minister discussed with his Jordanian counterpart Marwan Mashuar the continued efforts to avoid Iraq a military attack and Baghdad's commitment to the UN Security Council resolutions and international legitimacy.
