Younis: Egypt, Jordan to cooperate in power field

Minister of Electricity and Power, Hassan Younis talks' in Jordan chairing a high-level delegation of the ministry were to on Egypt-Jordan cooperation in fields of Energy and complete the issues agreed on during the last joint higher Committee meeting last October.
Younis said talks would focus mainly on import and export of power between the two countries.
Talks with the Jordanian minister of Energy, Mohammad Batayinch includes signing of an agreement on the rates of power exchange based on international rates in a step towards inauguration of Arab-European electricity grid due next year.
The two sides will also tackle means to avail Egyptian experience for the Jordanian side to benefit from in the field of electricity and power and export of Egyptian electric equipment to Jordan.
An Egyptian Jordanian joint venture will be established to participate in electricity projects in Jordan.
Egyptian ambassador in Amman, Hassan Hegazi said the talks would also cover the needs of the Jordanian electric grid from Egyptian electricity estimated at 250. 000 Kw/ year.
Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, Samir Ez El-Arab, said the Egyptian company's expected contract would export Egyptian electricity to Jordan in the year 2003.
