Al-Bashir to head for Paris to discuss bilateral relations, Mashakos negotiations

Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir will visit France in February 2003 in order to discuss bilateral relations between Khartoum and Paris and the peace developments in Sudan. By the beginning of January, 2003, the French foreign minister will visit Khartoum for political consultation.
The director of East Africa department at the French Foreign ministry Jan Christoph proposed to the Sudanese officials France's mediation to end the crisis between Sudan and Eritrea. He announced France's commitment to sending military men during the coming phase to help in implementing the ceasefire agreement in al-Nouba mountain.
The Sudanese minister of state for foreign affairs Najib al-Khayyer said during his meeting with the French official that France will delegate an expert in the area of regional and international guarantees to discuss on a program concerned with dismantling weapons of fighters and integrating them in the Sudanese national army. He added that his country will contribute, effectively in limiting Khartoum- Asmara tensions, noting that the French official will leave Khartoum for Nairobi to meet with the leaders of the rebels to exchange view points on special arrangements to give Mashakos' next negotiations in January 2003, a success.
Worthy mentioning that the peace advisor Ghazi Salah Eddine will pay a visit to France next Tuesday on discussing the peace file with the French officials.
In another development, the President of Kenya Daniel Arap Moy has proposed following the conclusion of the second Mashakos tour to arrange a meeting between the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and the rebels leader John Garang.
