Morocco deplores low trade with Muslim countries
Morocco-Regional, Economics, 12/14/2002
Morocco on Friday deplored the low level of its trade with Muslim countries, which do not exceed 10 percent of the North African country.
The changes that swept across the world particularly after the events of September 11 and the impact of regional groupings, require Muslim countries to multiply efforts to increase their trade exchanges and investments, Moroccan Industry, Trade and Telecommunications Minister, Rachid Talbi Alami, told the governing board of the Casablanca-based Islamic Center for the Development of Trade (ICDT, an off-shoot of the Organization of Islamic Conference, OIC).
The official deplored that inter-Islamic trade did not exceed 11 percent compared to Muslim nations' trade with the world.
