Romanian president confers with Syrian deputy premier

The Romanian President, Ion Iliescu, received in Bucharest yesterday Deputy Premier for Economic Affairs, Mohammed al-Hussein.
The two sides reviewed the dangerous situation in the region due to the Israeli acts against the Palestinians, and the American threat to strike Iraq.
Al-Hussein stressed Syria's stance for just and comprehensive peace according to the International Resolutions. Elisko also stressed the importance of the implementation of the international Resolutions to achieve peaceful solution for the region's problems.
The two sides reviewed the positive results of the Syrian- Romanian Joint Committee in its 12th session, which was held in Bucharest between (8 Ð12) December.
