Morocco-Spain: no date fixed for return of ambassadors to respective posts (Moroccan fm)
Morocco-Spain, Politics, 12/13/2002
Morocco's Foreign Affairs and Cooperation minister, who held on Wednesday meetings in Madrid with Spanish peer, Ana Palacio, said that "no date was set for the return of Ambassadors to their respective posts (in Madrid and Rabat."
Morocco decided on October 28th 2001 to call back its Ambassador in Madrid in protest against stances adopted by Madrid that were deemed hostile to Moroccan interests. Spain did the same in July 2002.
"Once the causes behind such a move are removed, consequences will therefore be null and void," said the Moroccan official in a statement broadcast Wednesday by the Moroccan national television (TVM).
In a joint statement made public at the end of Wednesday's meeting, Morocco and Spain agreed to give a new impetus to bilateral relations on sound, clear and coherent bases in view of reinforcing dialogue and full-fledged relations.
The two foreign ministers also agreed to meet in Rabat in the beginning of next year.
