Iran-Syria, Politics, 12/11/2002
Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharrazi described relations between Syria and Iran as very distinct, underlining the importance of the exchange of viewpoints between the two countries over issues of common interest.
In a statement upon his return to Tehran yesterday, Kharrazi affirmed that viewpoints of his country and that of Syria and Lebanon toward the Palestinian question and the Iraqi problem were indentical.

He insisted on the diplomatic role of certain states especially the European states in informing the world public opinion about what is going on in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Regarding the Iraqi crisis,.Kharrazi affirmed that his country "is opposed to a possible war against Iraq" stressing that the world is optimistic over cooperation between Iraq and the U.N.
