Turkish professor and changing the regimes in the region
Regional-USA, Politics, 12/11/2002

Professor Dogo Arkil, member of the teaching staff in the political sciences faculty at Ankara's University, announced that the American military operation against Iraq will not be confined to Iraq only but will cover the region as a whole, adding that a change will be made to the existing regimes and that plans necessary for that have been drawn.

In a statement to the Turkish Yani Cafak issued yesterday, Aekil stressed that need not to view this matter as a military interference in Iraq, rather a new world order for the Middle East region which will witness, as a whole a large change that will cover Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

He said that Turkey is not able to block the military operation against Iraq because the scenario of the war is prepared by the US to liquidate any force that defies its policy, even if that force is Turkey.

As for founding an independent Kurdish state in northern Iraq, he said there is no need for a Turkish concern because the US, Syria, Iran and the Arab states oppose that. He expected the emergence of a political structure of Shiite in southern Iraq of a political weight in the region following the toppling of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
