Iran's FM in Beirut: no common ground between Hizbullah, al-Qaida
Lebanon-Iran, Politics, 12/10/2002

The Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharazi said yesterday in Beirut that there is no common ground linking between al-Qaida organization and the Hizbullah party at the doctrine or the political levels.

Kharazi's statements were made during a short visit to Lebanon where he had met with the Lebanese President Emil Lahoud, the prime minister Rafic Hariri, the speaker of parliament Nabih Berri, and the foreign minister Mahmoud Hammoud and the secretary general of the Hizbullah party in Lebanon Hassan Nasrullah.

The Iranian minister criticized the American and Israeli allegations on that there is a relations between al-Qaida organization and Hizbullah. He explained " If they have any evidence ( the Americans and the Israelis) over what they are saying, they would have shown them. There is no common ground for members of al-Qaida to have links with the Lebanese people or the Hizbullah party at the doctrine and political perspective."
