Al-Qaida claims responsibility for Mombassa attack; alert in Kenya

The Kenyan authorities had put the army and police forces on a state of maximum alert after al-Qaida organization announced responsibility yesterday for the two attacks that took place against one Israeli plane and a hotel in Mombassa on November 28 and its threats to launch more attacks against the American and Israeli interests.
Al-Qaida claimed this responsibility in a recorded statement at a website in the voice of the spokesman for al-Qaida Suleiman Abu Ghaith who confirmed that the two operations of Mombassa were carried out by al-Qaida. He said "we are seriously preparing for the coming phase which will be greater and more dangerous."
