Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 12/9/2002
Kuwait's first deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah yesterday refused to comment on what stated in the speech of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein addressed to the Kuwaiti people on Saturday evening.
In a statement issued yesterday in the Kuwaiti daily al-Seyasah, Sheikh Sabah said "I will leave it for the people of Kuwait to assess (the speech's) content." For his part, the secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdul Rahman al-Ateyah said on Saturday that the speech does not comply with the resolutions of the recent Beirut Arab summit.
