King Mohammed calls Muslims to uphold, moderation

Morocco's King Mohammed VI has called the Muslim Ummah (Nation) to uphold the ideals of tolerance and moderation.

"It is its (the Muslim Ummah's) duty to uphold the ideals of tolerance and moderation and to ensure that they are reflected in its behavior at all levels," said the king in a message of congratulations to the leaders of the Muslim world, on the occasion of the advent of Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

"Commitment to these values will earn the Ummah more esteem and respect," said the king, adding that the Muslim Nation's "ability to confront challenges and to make a positive contribution to human civilization will also be reinforced."

King Mohammed VI also prayed for Muslim leaders and peoples to strengthen the ties of cooperation and solidarity which unite them, to enhance the status of the Islamic Ummah at regional and international levels, and to uphold their just causes, first and foremost among these, is the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, with Al-Quds Al-Shareef as its capital.
