Israeli tanks invade Jenin; kill Eight persons from one family in al-Breij camp

The Qatari al- Jazeera TV reported that 8 Palestinians from one family were killed yesterday when an Israeli tank shell hit the house of Mansour family in al Breij camp. The said station correspondent said the said family was living in "Block no. 6 in the camp."

News reports on the other hand said that 20 Palestinians were wounded in the Israeli artillery bombardment, five of them are in critical health conditions.

This came after the Israeli tanks broke into the camp which is situated to the southern east of Gaza and started bombardment of the camp under a cover of helicopters bombardment.

The correspondent said that there are vast operations for the Israeli army in Block 12 area to the Eastern part of the camp, where the Israeli tanks were deployed and supported by military helicopters.

He indicated violent confrontation between Palestinian resistance and the Israeli forces. He explained that a large explosion was heard believed to have targeted the house of the Palestinian Jamal Ali Ismael who carried out an attack against an Israeli gunboat.

Israeli military sources said that the army is carrying out an operation in the area but gave no details.

Israel sent its forces to Gaza repeatedly in the few past weeks to arrest Palestinian activists, holding them responsible for Palestinian attacks in which Israelis were killed since the eruption of the Palestinian Intifada in September, 2000.
