On appointing Turkey al-Faisal as a Saudi ambassador to Britain
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 12/7/2002
Adel al-Jubeir, the political advisor for the Saudi crown prince, stated that Saudi Arabia intends to nominate the former chairman of the Saudi intelligence to be its ambassador to Britain.
In a press conference he held in Washington, al-Jubeir said that appointing prince Turkey in this post is in the interest of Saudi Arabia and the decision is made to prove his capability and efficiency in performance. He explained that this has nothing to do with the issue of giving him diplomatic immunity.
Replying to a question on that Prince Turkey did not deny the accusations addressed to him by Americans following the attacks of September 11, al-Jubeir explained that nobody in Saudi Arabia thinks that such accusations are worthy to be replied to, adding that Prince Turkey will answer these accusations through the judiciary.
Al-Jubeir continued that Prince Turkey is a member in the royal family and he is the son of King Faisal and had worked for 27 years as head of the intelligence and he originally enjoys diplomatic immunity.
Al-Jubeir expressed his conviction that prince Turkey will carry out an excellent performance in representing Saudi Arabia in England.
