MEES: Oil pipeline between Iraq, Turkey to be completed

A specialized economic bulletin said yesterday that the oil pipeline which is of a length of 1,000 Km linking Iraq to Turkey will have a maximum capacity of 1.6 million barrels every day in the first half of 2003.
The Middle East Economic Survey MEES to be issued next Monday said that the private Turkish company Takfin has completed rehabilitation of the pumping station and maintenance and repair works in other establishments are expected to be completed by the beginning of 2003.
At the meantime, the capacity of the pipeline is 1.18 million barrels every day and it works below its maximum capacity. This pipeline which ends at the Turkish port of Jeihan on the Mediterranean ensures part of the Iraqi exports within the framework of the UN "oil for food" program.
