Workshop for one-stop shop in creation and regulation of small and medium size business
Egypt, Economics, 12/3/2002

On December 17, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Youssef Botrous Ghali will open a workshop on streamlining the regulations for creating and operating small and medium enterprises (SME), planned in one complex.

ΚΚΚ The workshop will address a detailed study on ways of encouraging small enterprises to follow-up the legal procedures for creating their projects.

ΚΚΚ The study recommended gathering all governmental authorities in 'one-stop' shopping, where investors can approve and complete the documentation needed for their projects, saving time and effort.

ΚΚΚ The workshop will be organised in cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the Canadian Centre for Development Research.

ΚΚΚ The study evaluates previous experience in establishing models of 'one-stop' shopping to streamline business operations in Mansoura.

ΚΚΚ The workshop's organisation is part of the government's efforts to support SMEs and upgrade their performance as the backbone of any economic reform and trade liberalisation, advisor to the Minister of Foreign Trade for SMEs, Manal Hussein said. "Supporting SMEs will help create new jobs and back the national economy," added Hussien.

ΚΚΚ She pointed out that the workshop will address the role of the Ministry of Trade in facilitating the legal regulations for investors to create their projects and the needed legal licences for operating and running SMEs.

ΚΚΚ Despite laws that regulate the creation of all projects, the workshop will focus on regulations for SMEs and the impact of these regulations on operating the projects. The study defines small and medium projects, where the number of workers ranges between 10 to 50.
