Sheikh Fatimah: women to join the government very soon
United Arab Emirates, Culture, 12/2/2002
Sheikha Fatimah Bint Mubarak, United Arab Emirates' First Lady, said in a statement issued today in the United Arab Emirates UAE daily Gulf News on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the UAE national day that UAE's woman joining the government and the federation national council ( the parliament) will "take place very soon."
Sheikha Fatimah was quoted in a summary for the statement issued on Saturday by the UAE media asserting that for women, in the UAE, "having a seat at the National Council or occupying the post of a minister is not a mere dream, rather almost a reality." She added "this is a natural and logic result for the development of the course of events."
She continued that the President of the UAE and its constitution "offer the woman her legitimate right for political participation." Sheikha Fatimah stressed her support for woman's work "because she represents half of the energy of the society, and it is not possible for any country seeking progress and development to give up half of its ( energy)."
