Egypt's long-staple cotton hits 40% of world production

Egyptian cotton comes in the lead at world level atop long staple cotton production.
ΚΚΚ According to the International Consultative Committee on Cotton (ICCC) statistics for the year 2001.
ΚΚΚ Egypt's cotton contributes by 40 percent of total world production, said the statistics.
ΚΚΚ Meanwhile, a US magazine praised the high quality of Egyptian cotton, saying that demands for fabric made with Egyptian cotton was on the rise.
ΚΚΚ The latest edition of Home Textile magazine published a survey by one of the biggest American linen companies that cotton from Egypt is highly prized and that its quality standards exceed those of US cotton.
ΚΚΚ These above comments were quoted in a report that was submitted to Foreign Trade Minister Youssef Boutros Ghali.
ΚΚΚ The report, which was complied by the office of the Egyptian Trade Representation Authority (ETRA) in New York quoted the magazine, saying that a delegation from the aforementioned linech company will be visiting Egypt soon to look into ways of investing in upholstery materials
