Wheat in Ancient Egypt

Wheat was the main crop in Ancient Egypt says archeologist James Breasted about the founding of the wild wheat in the Nile valley and other countries.

ΚΚΚ Although it was found in Palestine and Iran but this did not mean that Ancient Egyptians brought it from abroad.

ΚΚΚ Palynagical researches proved that various varieties of wheat and barely were cultivated in Egypt since 16.000 years.

ΚΚΚ Wheat played great role in Ancient Egypt of which bread and pastery were made and offered to the God and for paying taxes where wheat was considered as treasure; Scientist Flinders Petrie emphasized that when there was surplus of wheat the Ancient Egyptian civilization was built and flourished.

ΚΚΚ The desire of dead people was to cultivate and harvest wheat in the other world. Sen Nedjem and his wife were found cultivating and harvesting wheat as shown on the walls of their Tomb in Thebes, Dynasty 19.
