Algerian experts to cooperate with Moroccan peers in assessing refinery fire losses
Algeria-Morocco, Politics, 11/30/2002
Algerian experts will cooperate with Moroccan peers in evaluating losses entailed by a fire that devastated SAMIR, Morocco's major oil refinery. The Algerian experts were part of a delegation led by Algerian employment and solidarity minister, Taieb Belaiz, who came to Morocco as envoy of the Algerian president to offer assistance to the Moroccan people following the floods that claimed over 30 lives.
SAMIR general manager said losses are "considerable" and assessed according to first estimates at US$ 150 million, not counting management-linked losses. He also deplored the death of two workers in the fire.
