Palestine-Israel, Politics, 11/30/2002
The international cooperation minister in the Palestinian Authority, Nabil Shaath, announced in Berlin that the two operations which took place on Thursday in Kenya against Israelis and were claimed by "Palestine Army" were not carried out by a "Palestinian organization."
Shaath stressed following talks with the German foreign minister "we have all guarantees that the matter has no connection with a Palestinian organization."
Meantime, Sheikh Ismael, one of the leaders of the Hamas movement in Gaza, denied any connection of the movement to the Mombassa operations. He stressed in an exclusive statement to Cairo radio that the "resistance operations carried out by the movement are confined to the territories of occupied Palestine, and that the Hamas movement does not seek to bring in the conflict to any circle outside occupied Palestine."
