Israeli anti poisonous gas covers to Kuwait
Kuwait-Israel, Politics, 11/30/2002
The Israeli daily Haartez reported yesterday that the Israeli defense ministry, in consultation with the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon and the Israeli foreign ministry approved that the Israeli "Shell On" is permitted to sell preventive suits against poisonous gases to Kuwait for fears that Kuwait will be exposed to an Iraqi aggression.
The Israeli radio quoted the paper as saying that the likely deal includes some 2 millions suits at a cost of 82 million dollars.
The paper added that contacts aim at finalizing this deal between Israel and Kuwait started through mediators and businessmen.
Meantime, Kuwait yesterday denied to have signed or to have the intention to sign a deal with any Israeli company to import anti- gas suits at a cost of 82 million dollars, through several mediators.
In its today's issue, the Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas said quoting the Kuwaiti defense minister as saying "we did not sign any deal with Israel and the ministry of defense has no information about any deal of that sort," stressing that the Israeli goods are banned from Kuwait and that Kuwait is committed to the measures of the Arab boycott of Israel."
