Palestine army claims responsibility for the two attacks against Israel
Palestine-Israel, Military, 11/29/2002
The "Jish Philistin " ( The Palestinian army ) organization., which is so far not a recognized group, claimed responsibility for the double operation against Israelis in Mombassa on the Kenyan coast. This was in a statement issued by a foreign news agency in Beirut yesterday.
A Lebanese governmental source said that this statement "is issued by a false organization and the 'Palestine army' has no actual existence and in case it exists, it has no offices in Beirut. " The Lebanese governmental source indicated that this is a maneuver aiming at undermining Lebanon's credibility.
In a statement printed in Arabic, the "general command of Palestine army " which said it belongs the "government of all Palestine in exile," indicated it had sent two groups to Kenya "to attack the Israeli interests" in order to make the world once again hear the voice of the Palestinians and to bring back their just cause to the limelight and to focus on the Israeli terrorism in the West Bank and Gaza.
The statement added that "it was approved for the contingent of martyr Abu Jihad to move its first group, which is the group of martyr Majid Abu Sharar, and its second group which is of martyr Kamal Nasser to Kenya, Africa." This is in remarks to Abu Jihad, the right hand of the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. Abu Jihad was assassinated at the hand of Israeli Comandos in Tunisia in 1988.
The two groups carry the names of two other Palestinian officials who were also assassinated in Beirut: Kamal Nasser and Majid Abu Sharar.
The statement added that "the decision was taken on the ( 55th anniversary of the partition of Palestine which falls November 29 and following negligence of the Palestinian question, especially the Palestinian refugees question who have been greatly suffering since 1948."
