World Bank underlines readiness to provide Egypt technical assistance
Egypt, Economics, 11/28/2002

James Wolfensohn, the president of the World Bank, has expressed the bank's readiness to provide the aid requested by Egypt to carrying out social and economic development programmes.

ΚΚΚ He also said that the World Bank is prepared to provide Egypt with technical expertise that is needed for developing the sectors of exportation, education and health.

ΚΚΚ He said there is a sustained improvement in the Egyptian economic position compared to the position before September 11th incidents.

ΚΚΚ During his meeting with members of the Middle East Department of the World Bank, Wolfensohn said he agreed during his talks with the Egyptian government that Egypt was not in need of World Bank loans but rather it needs technical aid and expertise for accelerating the development of economic sectors in general.

ΚΚΚ He said more emphasis would be laid on the sectors of exportation, education, health, training and social protection for the categories that are more susceptible to economic fluctuations.
