Tunisia holds for the first time the International Koranic Contest, at the initiative of the Tunisian President Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali and with the participation of 12 countries, including Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, Iran, Egypt, Algeria, Malaysia, Palestine, Jordan, Morocco and Libya.
