Regional-Iran, Politics, 11/25/2002
The Saudi daily al-Watan reported in Saturday that Iraq is currently studying a project to link Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia by a railway.
The paper added quoting well informed sources in Baghdad that the study deals with extending a railway linking southern Iran to Basra, southern Iraq, to the Saudi territories within railways agreements between the three countries.
The paper added that ratification of the study will be made as soon as the blueprints will be completed especially as there is a railway line linking Tehran, al-Mandareyah, Baghdad, Mousel and Aleppo within agreements that facilitate transport and communications among the said countries. The paper stressed that talks are currently underway to reach solutions to complete the project as soon as possible.
