Iraq, Jordan renew oil agreement
Jordan-Iraq, Economics, 11/23/2002

Iraq and Jordan on Thursday renewed in Baghdad their oil agreement according to which Jordan is provided with all its needs of crude oil during 2003 at preferable conditions.

On the Iraqi side, the agreement was signed by the minister of oil and mineral resources Amer Muhammad Rasheed while the Jordanian aide was represented by the minister of oil and energy Muhammad al-Bateynah. The agreement states that Iraq will provide Jordan by 4 million tons of oil and one million ton of oil by oil byproducts, part of which is free of charge at a cost of 300 million dollars.

This oil protocol which is signed every year between the two states this time is considered as an exception of the sanctions imposed on Iraq by the UN since 12 years.
