Pope John Paul's concerns over Palestinian, Iraqi sufferings

Pope John Paul II has expressed his concern over the great sufferings felt by the citizens in Palestine and Iraq, noting that he prays for them, in particular and appeals to the God Almighty to relieve the Middle East region from violence.
In a statement, the Pope called during his meeting on Friday in Rome with the delegations representing the plenary society of the eastern churches chaired by Cardinal Nousa 1st Dawoud, the chairman of the Eastern Churches complex at the Vatican to the need of establishing peace in the region, noting that he was lucky to visit many several areas in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and India.
