Khaled al-Shummari: the Kuwaiti who opened fire at two American soldiers
Kuwait-USA, Politics, 11/23/2002

Well-informed sources told the Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas issued yesterday that the Kuwaiti soldier who opened fire at two American soldiers on Thursday is named Khaled al-Shummari.

The sources said that al-Shumarri was riding a car for the Kuwaiti police in the 7th circle when he signaled the two American soldiers who were riding a sedan car to stop, and then he opened fire at them.

The sources told the paper that al-Shummari was treated in the psychological hospital and was recruited in the computer section after he was banned from carrying weapons for a long period of time.

Meantime, the Saudi authorities arrested the Kuwaiti who opened fire at two American soldiers.

An official source at the Saudi ministry of the interior, quoted by the Saudi news agency, yesterday said that coordination was made with the security sides in Kuwait to hand him over.
