China: No UN authorization of no fly zone; US planes strike Iraqi positions

China yesterday stressed that there is no resolution issued by the UN security council or others concerning the two "no fly zone" in northern and southern Iraq.

The spokesman for the Chinese foreign ministry Kong Kan said in a press conference that the "UN security council did not permit and did not take any resolution concerning having the two so-called "no fly Zones" in Iraq. He added that China calls on implementing all UN security council resolutions concerning Iraq.

The spokesman added that UN resolutions including UN resolution 1441 should be implemented precisely and totally in order to find out the appropriate solution for the Iraqi crisis with the context of the UN. Meantime, American and British planes yesterday bombarded a radar center for the anti- Iraqi plane batteries, monitored in the "no fly zone" in southern Iraq.

The US defense department announced that American and British planes raided for four times during the past five days Iraqi positions in the two "no fly Zones" in the south and north Iraq, in retaliation to Iraq's intercepting fire by planes carrying out ordinary duties.

The American central leadership said that yesterday's raid targeted a radar center near al-Shoubeyah, 400 Km to the southern east of Baghdad.
