Some 11 Israelis killed, 47 wounded in a Palestinian operation in Jerusalem

Some 11 Israelis were killed and other 47 wounded, 8 of them are in critical health conditions in an operation carried out yesterday morning by one Palestinian against an Israeli coach in the square of Kreyat Menaheam in western Jerusalem. This incident, however, confirmed the failure of the Israeli security and military measures to limit the activity of the Palestinian resistance.

The leader of the Israeli police in Jerusalem Meky Levy said that the bus was full of passengers when the explosion took place and the Palestinian who executed the operation stepped up to the bus ridding in it undiscovered.

Meantime, the Israeli radio said that the explosion took place inside a bus working on line no. 20 in Mexico street in western Jerusalem.

Ezz eddine al-Qassam, the military wing of the Hamas movement claimed responsibility for this operation.

In a statement, the group said that this operation came in the framework of retaliating to the Israeli crime and in revenge for killing its leader Salah Shehadah.

The statement reserved the name of the executor of the operation, stressing he was able to penetrate through all Israeli check points and challenged thousands of Israeli soldiers in the heart of Jerusalem.

However, Palestinian sources said that the executor of the operation is called Nael Mousa Abu Ghalil ( 26 year old) and he is from Doura town, district of Hebron in the West Bank.

Meantime, the Palestinian authority denounced this operation. The Palestinian local self rule Saeb Oreikat official told CNN " we condemn this operation, the same way we had condemned similarly operations." Oreikat held Sharon responsible for the operation. He explained the the policy pursued by the Israeli government blocked the road before peaceful negotiations.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces yesterday escorted by tanks and armored vehicles broke into Beit Lehem and carried out a vast mopping up operation during which clashes took place between the invading Israeli forces and the Palestinian youths resulted in wounding 8 Palestinians and arresting other 6. One Palestinian was wounded in Nablus by the Israeli army forces.
