Al-Assad congratulates Lahoud on the occasion of Lebanon's national day

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad yesterday sent a cable of congratulations to the Lebanese President Emil Lahoud on the occasion of Lebanon's national day.

He noted the struggle mounted by the people of Syria and Lebanon and yielded in achieving independence for the two states. He also noted the continued coordination and cooperation between Syria and Lebanon for mutual interests and the struggle to liberate the occupied territories.

In a message he addressed to the Lebanese people yesterday evening on the occasion of the Lebanese National Day, President Lahoud said that Lebanon's national unity and integration of its strategic options with Syria in adopting the resistance as an option constitute the corner stone for stability in Lebanon.

He continued that these options were the main pillars which halted the war and ensured security and eliminated the occupation and enabled the state of Lebanese to stand on a solid ground to restore back its right to its land, airspace and waters including Lebanon's right to al-Wazzani river.
