Egypt launches home computer campaign

Egypt's Minister of communications and information technology, Ahmed Nazif announced the start of the 'computer in every home' in collaboration with the Egyptian company for communications, Misr bank and several local computer firms.
ΚΚΚ fourteen importers and 350 computer companies will be contributing to the project, Nazif said yesterday, adding that the "door is open for others, on condition that they supply after sale and maintenance services."
ΚΚΚ Computers costing between LE 2,000 and LE 3,000 can be purchased by installments averaging LE84 a month on the telephone bill.
ΚΚΚ The first phase of the project will cover Greater Cairo, Alexandria, Mansour and Assiout.
