Barghouthi's trial to be resumed today
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 11/21/2002

The trial of the secretary of the Fatah movement and members of the Palestinian legislative council Marwan Barghouthi will resume today in the central court in Tel Aviv, according to the Barghouthi lawyer, the Israeli Shamai Livovitch.

Barghouthi ( 43 year old) has been under arrest since last April. On August 14 he was accused of "committing crimes and trying to commit crimes, being a member in a terrorist organization and having weapons and explosives," accusations which have up to a lifetime imprisonment penalty.

In the same context the "people's committee for releasing Barghouthi" will organize a mass rally by Palestinian press, artists and intellectuals in al-Manara square in Ramullah on the occasion of the trial.
