Baghdad: suspension of Babel daily
Iraq, Politics, 11/21/2002
The Iraqi ministry of information issued a decision banning the issuance of "Babel" daily, which is supervised by the son of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, for one month as from Yesterday, over violating the laws of the ministry of information.
The Iraqi ministry of information, which declared the news, did not disclose the reason behind such a measure. However, news reports quoted a well informed source that the measure was taken because the "paper violated the instructions enacted by the ministry of information" which specifies not to criticize any Arab states.
Just recently, Babel criticized Egypt and Syria in the framework of its comments on the UN security council resolution on dismantling the mass destruction weapons in Iraq.
