Iraqi oil exports increased
Iraq, Economics, 11/21/2002

The UN has reported that the volume of oil amounts exported by Iraq under the supervision of the UN increased last week from 7.3 million barrels to 8.3 million barrels a day.

The UN said that revenues of these exports whose average reached 1.2 million barrels per day reached 169 million dollars up from 154 million last week.

The average price of one Iraqi oil barrel reached $ 20.10.

However, the current phase of the "oil for food" program which permits Iraq to export its oil under the supervision of the UN expires next Monday.

The executive director of this humanitarian program Beinoun Sefyan expressed his hope that this program will be renewed for an additional 6 months.

Work in this program which permits financing the humanitarian aid to Iraq started from oil exports revenues on December 10th, 1996 to alleviate the consequences of the UN sanctions imposed on the Iraqi people.
