Belgium and the Iraqi opposition

The Belgian "La Republica" daily said Belgium's rejection to convene a conference for the Iraqi opposition in Brussels this month is because Brussels does not see it as appropriate to convene a conference that aims at drawing a regime for the post-Saddam government on its territories.
The paper quoted yesterday sources in the office of the Belgian foreign minister Louis Michel saying that convening such a conference would result in mixing papers and distort the image of the Belgian diplomacy which does not encourage intervention in implementing the recent UN security council resolution ( 1441) concerning the Iraqi issues, besides Belgium's diplomacy avoids provocation.
